Like the Pre-Raphaelites I have always worked with a passion for detail and in line with the Impressionists I have a great love of colour. Both of these elements I like to include in all of my works.

I was born and educated in Torquay, Devon and have enjoyed sketching, drawing and being creative since childhood. Having attended various evening classes and taking an 'A' level in both history of art and creative art as a mature student, a love of painting has devloped and my unique style worked in either gouache or acrylic has emerged.

My subject matter is quite diverse, ranging from fashion to fantasy; I try to capture the elements from my love of history and natural beauty of Devon and Cornwall. I particularly like to put my own modernist abstract approach to traditional still life subjects, with a great love of sunflowers and lilies. Other influences evolve around other interests in my life including rock music, the sea, the surf, the moor. From the fantasy perspective I love to create images based on natural phenomena such as driftwood and leaves with a fairy thrown in for good measure.

I am a strong believer that life should not be dull and so colour is of great importance - with one constant ingredient - BLUE!!!
