Celtic & Irish Cultural Society Crawley

The Celtic and Irish Cultural Society is a non profit Crawley based organisation set up to promote a greater understanding of Irish and Celtic Culture to Crawley and the South East.

Our activities are key to addressing social inclusion to integrate all communities more fully in to Crawley's multicultural society and provide opportunities for social interaction and creative expression amongst the town’s communities and help develop social skills, build confidence and lead more active and healthy lives.

This is done by organising a number of events throughout the year that educate as well as entertain. This year we've already had a successful Crawley Fleadh and St Patrick's Weekend and Parade together with a joint venture with Sussex Police in organising Crawley's first ever Inter-Community Football Tournament

Our flagship event The 16th Annual Crawley Irish Festival takes place on Sun 28 August (12pm - 7pm) and expects to attract up to 5,000 people to Crawley. With traditional, ballad, country and modern music played out over two live music stages in addition to the Irish dance stage and Ceili marquee it never fails to impress. There's also a special children's entertainment marquee involving games, song and story with particular emphasis on Celtic traditions and folklore. In addition, sport and cultural identity are featured prominently with GAA sports, a funfair, workshops, food and craft stalls and displays, with the added attraction of a licensed beer tent with Gaelic sports shown on the big TV screen.

It's recognised as a great day out for all the family and an event all the communities in the multicultural make up of Crawley can take part in - for the good of the town.

All moneys raised from the festival gets ploughed back into the community participation events mentioned earlier together with music, cultural and sports workshop and projects within the Crawley schools and leisure centres.

The town of Crawley is being developed and extended all the time, and has a vibrant mix of cultures within which events like the Festival flourish.
