Caroline Kirton Caroline kirton
I am a textile artist based in Dacorum, Hertfordshire, I create free machine embroidery pictures using a combination of applique, screen print and mixed media. I exhibit my work both nationally and internationally. I also sell my work through Galleries and my Etsy shop and i am also happy to work on commissions with clients. I do workshops for older children and adults and am happy to do artist talks.
My work is a series of snap shots of how I view the ups and downs of teenage life, by observing my daughters and their friends, creating a sense of autobiography, recording stories, feelings, emotions and moments in time.
My aim is to increase the awareness about the use of contemporary textiles by telling the stories of young people. They are designed to arouse discussion and invite interaction with the audience whilst showing the importance of building relationships through the generations.
My pieces start with a saying or an overheard conversation and can be titled or left to the audience to interpret what the starting point may have been.
