Big Lottery Fund and Heritage Lottery Fund Announce Name Changes

Big Lottery Fund and Heritage Lottery Fund Announce Name Changes

The two lottery funders have changed their names and logos to reflect the direct connection between the sale of National Lottery tickets and the money going to good causes across the UK.
The Big Lottery Fund will now be known as The National Lottery Community Fund, and the Heritage Lottery Fund is now called the National Lottery Heritage Fund. As part of their rebrand, both have changed their logos to use the crossed fingers of the National Lottery and refreshed their websites.

This year marks a quarter of a century since the National Lottery began operating. Over the last 25 years, more than £30 million has been raised each week from the sale of the National Lottery tickets. This money is then awarded as grants to community and heritage projects, benefiting millions of people across the UK.
Commenting on the rebrand, the National Lottery Community Fund’s Chief Executive Dawn Austwick said:

“National Lottery funding for good causes changes lives. As the largest community funder in the UK, we see the amazing achievements of thousands of people-led projects every year.
“By deepening the connection between players and the great projects they are supporting, we can make sure more people understand the incredible difference they make across the UK.”
The Fund says that it expects the old logo will still be used for some time by many small grassroots groups who have received lottery funding for their projects and use the logo on their print materials. It has communicated to groups to support them in updating digital materials and to reassure them that they can continue to use previously printed materials or merchandise until they are ready to order new ones.

The National Lottery Community Fund (Big Lottery Fund) grant schemes remain unchanged.

Some of the National Lottery Community Funds that are currently open for application include:

National Lottery Community Fund - Empowering Young People (Northern Ireland only)
National Lottery Community Fund - People and Places (Wales only)
National Lottery Community Fund - Reaching Communities England
National Lottery Community Fund - Young Start Fund (Scotland only)

The Awards for All grants programme is now called the National Lottery Awards for All and remains open for applications on a rolling basis.
