Kirklees Council budget consultation - have your say.

Kirklees Council budget consultation - have your say.

Kirklees Council is undertaking a budget consultation until 3rd October 2014 and you are encouraged to take part.

The Cabinet has published the medium term financial plan for 2015-2018 which outlines the significant financial savings that need to be made and ideas and options for achieving these budget reductions. Proposals include the reduction of funding to LBT; complete withdrawal by 2017/18 of all grant funds for arts organisations, projects and events; the cessation of the orchestral and music programmes and events organised by the council; and a reduction in the number of creative economy staff.

Now you can get involved – take part in the online questionnaire

The first phase of public consultation is now open. As many people as possible need to take part by reading the consultation booklet and completing a short questionnaire to give their views on some general questions about the budget options.

Your views are important and the councillors want to know what you think – as a resident and/or employee in the district. You can complete the survey giving your views as a resident and then complete it again to represent the views of your organisation as these may be different to your own personal views.

This consultation – and the later phase on specific budget options (due to start at the end of October 2014) – will help to inform the councillors when they come to take difficult decisions about the budget early next year.

Paper copies are available at libraries and customer services centres and should be returned to: FREEPOST Kirklees Council, CRAC (no stamp needed) by Friday 3rd October 2014.

If you feel passionately about the future of the Kirklees district, please take five minutes to complete the survey. Encourage your friends, board members and colleagues to do the same. This is your chance to have your say about future decisions.
