Manchester International Festival (MIF) is the world’s first festival of original, new work and special events, staged every two years. From 2021, as well as producing a biennial festival, we will also run The Factory, a new state of the art building and producing organisation in the heart of Manchester.

MIF’s programme of work has grown considerably over the past years as it transitions from a biennial festival of 18 days to running a year-round programme of work in a large-scale venue which is open year-round. Alongside the venue based programme of new commissions, international presentations, exhibitions and music gigs, the programme will include commercial events, a public programme of talks and conferences and a busy Creative Engagement programme. All of the work will be underpinned by a Skills and Training programme. MIF produces a significant international touring programme and will continue to run the biennial Festival.

Accountable for the planning and delivery of MIF’s programme of work and for developing and managing MIF’s producing capacity and capability as the organisation transitions to running The Factory and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES
− Developing MIF’s organizational culture through fostering a cross departmental approach to planning
and delivering the programme of work in The Factory and beyond, to ensuring KPI’s and other diversity,
access, sustainability and audience targets are met. This includes Chairing the Programme Planning
Meetings and Programme Delivery meetings and driving forward a Project Team approach to delivering
the programme.
− Working with the Venue Director and other venue departmental heads to develop an effective and
efficient operating model for The Factory
− Providing leadership to the Producing departments and line management of Executive Producers,
Scheduling Manager, and others as appropriate
− Lead on resource planning for programme delivery, ensuring an agile, flexible approach that meets the
needs of the programme in Manchester and internationally
− Accountability for the design and implementation of a scheduling system and approach that meets the
Company’s planning and operational needs
− Manage the overview of all annual programme budgets, supporting the Artistic Leads in the planning
and delivery of a programme of work that’s supports the organization to deliver on its artistic ambition
and financial, diversity and audience targets, and contributing to the development of MIF’s 5 year
rolling business plan.
− Oversee development of the legal and contractual framework for the wider producing team including
digital, as the organisation develops, ensuring that the right legal support is available to advise on all
aspects including rights royalties and licensing and that contracts are fit for purpose
− Oversee the relationships with external national and Greater Manchester based co-commissioning and
co-producing partnerships, supporting Executive Producers where required on specific projects
