From 9th November to 1 February 2016, Kirklees Council are consulting on the Kirklees Local Plan, which sets out the Council’s long-term strategy on managing development across the district over the next 15 years.

By law, all local councils must adopt a long-term plan which sets out how much and where land can be developed to meet the needs of local people and businesses. Once adopted, the Local Plan will govern all planning applications are assessed.

The booklet, Shaping a Local Plan for Kirklees, summarises the main proposals of the Draft Local Plan -www.kirklees.gov.uk/business/planningPolicy/localPlan/pdf/shapingALocalPlan.pdf. You can make your comments on-line at kirklees.gov.uk/localplan, where you can look at site-specific information, and see comments other people have also made about similar issues.
