Principal Officer (Culture & Sport), Leeds City Council

Principal Officer (Culture & Sport), Leeds City Council

With a new culture strategy in place, a major festival planned in 2023, and thriving and diverse cultures all around the city – it is a great time to join the Culture and Sport Team in the UK’s second largest local authority.

They need someone who already has extensive knowledge and experience in the cultural sector. Someone who can be a brilliant communicator with a diverse set of stakeholders. Someone who can inspire and empower their colleagues.

In this role you will lead and manage the further development and delivery of key transformational programmes such as Leeds Culture Strategy and Leeds 2023.

You will develop an exceptional team which is valued and respected, through your inclusive and empowering leadership style.

You will be able to build vital relationships with a broad range of individuals and organisations - both within and outside the council and the culture sector – relationships that command respect, trust and confidence.

You will be a natural networker, a problem solver with an imagination for seeing the bigger picture and the determination to make it happen. Just as importantly you will make sure projects, programmes and tasks are completed on time and on budget.

An ongoing commitment to equality is fundamental to succeeding in this job.

For further questions about this role and/or if you would like an informal conversation first, please contact Cluny Macpherson, Chief officer, Culture and Sport (cluny.macpherson@leeds.gov.uk) for an informal discussion.
