Tender for Events Audit – Places and Spaces, Kirklees

Tender for Events Audit – Places and Spaces, Kirklees

It is an exciting time for culture in Kirklees and for the Council who, after adopting a place-based approach to cultural development, have instigated two key strategic initiatives that support priorities within Culture Kirklees, the vision for the Council’s Cultural Services. These initiatives are:

• WOVEN in Kirklees, a biennial textiles festival; and
• A Year of Music in 2023.

In addition to this, there is a program of work to grow the events capacity and capability of the district, through maximising the outdoor assets from spaces and places across Kirklees.

Collectively, this approach supports the future cultural and tourism (community based and visitor economy) ambition for the district.

To support this work, we need to undertake an audit of all the outdoor places and spaces in Kirklees that have the capacity to support events of all scales. This includes iconic spaces such as St Georges Square, Greenhead Park, Crow Nest Park and Oakwell Country Park, to lesser used spaces that have the potential to add animation and vibrancy to our towns and villages.

This work is a key foundation in the development of the Year of Music 2023 with wider impact for the broader cultural life of Kirklees. We need to identify suitable performance sites in Kirklees.

This tender is in two phases, with a break clause after the first stage audit, in order for the Council to review and assess the information and confirm which sites to move forward on for the greater detail and planning.

• This first phase audit will provide all the information on these sites, to give a picture of site potential
• A second phase work will take place once we have this information to understand which sites need to be progressed further.

The budget for the project is £40,000 divided between the two stages

Your quotation submission must be received by the Council by 13:00hrs on Friday 2nd July 2021
