Willow cyclists raise money for Water Aid
Two of the willow cyclists we commissioned for Hypervelocity have raised £2,000 at auction.
The cyclist which was made through community workshops for Spirit was donated to Yorkshire Water, the main sponsor for the Yorkshire Festival, who auctioned it off to raise £1,300 for Water Aid.
The elite cyclist we commissioned from the artist Carole Beavis was donated to Marie Curie Cancer, the official Grand Depart charity. It was auctioned for £700.
We are very pleased that the art which was produced through our Tour de France event, Hypervelocity, is having a longer life and being seen by even more people. The flags produced by local communities and displayed at Holme have recently completed a tour of Welcome to Yorkshire events and been seen at Sheffield Crucible, Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate and Leeds Art Gallery.
