Funding - The Kathleen Hannay Memorial Charity
The Trust supports a wide variety of UK and worldwide charitable causes and makes a substantial number of grants to charitable organisations both on a one off and recurring basis. During the year ending 5 April 2012 the Trust made donations totalling £666,000 to 35 registered Charities. This was a slight decrease from the previous year, which saw grant allocations totalling £835,370 to 47 registered charities.
There are no minimum or maximum grant amounts. Only UK registered charities are eligible to apply.
Although predominantly a discretionary funder, grant awards fall under the following general headings:
1. The prevention or relief of poverty;
2. The advancement of education;
3. The advancement of religion;
4. The advancement of health or the saving of lives;
5. The advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science;
6. The advancement of amateur sport;
7. The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation;
8. The promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality or diversity;
9. The advancement of environmental protection;
10. The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
The application process is on-going and interested applicants may apply at any time. Trustee meetings are normally held in March annually.
