Paragone: Painting or Sculpture?

PRIVATE VIEW: FRIDAY 15TH JUNE 6-9PM
Paragone was an early medieval debate in which sculptors and painters alike argued
their own practice as the superior mimesis of nature. They questioned the plastic
constraints they were challenged by and how they attempted to imitate or even
transcend their portrayal of man and his world. This exhibition will document this
tension, focusing on the relationship between two and three dimensional production.
