This wide-ranging programme pulls together music across the centuries, from the
reigns of both Queen Elizabeths. Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, patron saint of musicians,
celebrates this great composer in his centenary year. Will Todd, Orlando Gough, James
McCarthy and Roland Perrin have all been commissioned by Hertfordshire Chorus.
The programme also includes music by Philip Glass, one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century, in a piece performed in the first concert the Chorus gave under David Temple in November 2000.
