Dennis Walling Exhibition 1 - 30th September 2011
Dennis was born in Plymouth, Devon in 1962. After leaving school Dennis was accepted for an apprenticeship in carpentry. Later on he did another apprenticeship in boat building and fitting at Falmouth Technical College.
Dennis moved to Ivybridge in 1993 after traveling around the country. In 1997 Dennis attended Plymouth College of Art and Design studying Fine Art however this subject didn't workout for him so he then went on to study sculpture.
Dennis became well known around Ivybridge for his drawings and caricatures of fish and was asked by the Landlady of The Bridge Inn to to paint the pub sign. This led to an article appearing in the Ivybridge, South Brent & South Hams Gazette (13th November 1998) where he was described as Ivybridge's answer to Lenkiewicz.
In 2006 Dennis found himself a workshop from where he lets, as his friend says, his weird and and wonderful imagination run riot. The workshop has given Dennis the opportunity to pursue his artistic passion and hone his skills at drawing, painting, sculpting, creating etc and many other things.
In 2008 Dennis met Sarah who gave him the belief and inspiration in his work and to take his work a step further by showing his work to the public.
Dennis's artistic skills covers various styles including pencil drawings, oil and acrylic paintings, sculpture, bespoke mirrors & frames, abstract art and probably a few more too.
This is Dennis's first exhibition and no no doubt not his last. Dennis produces some very interesting, creative, inspirational and original pieces of work that are as unique as he is.
