Miriam Fraser @ Make History Artist
Community artist who runs courses and workshops in partnership with local charities. For any age or ability, these can be in Feltmaking, Painting, Introduction to drawing or Photography appreciation.
Heritage Craft workshops: eg: 'Fleece to fabric', with spinning, weaving, dyeing.
Well organised sessions in historic costume, with powerpoint introduction, a variety of hands-on craft experiences, traditional storytelling and follow-up activities.
The sessions are history themed, but with cross-curricular links: There is emphasis on using creativity, talk and imagination. Suitable for History or Art weeks.
Time periods are from Celtic to Norman. Also, for 2015, a Magna Carta experience: What life was like the day before the charter was signed. This session will include introduction to human rights and citizenship.
Aim: To rekindle our relationship with traditional crafts and ancient skills. Knowledge gained through hands-on experience improves well-being, and can then be transferred to other areas of learning. It lasts a lifetime.
I have QTS and QTLS, and currently teach across the key stages. In addition, I have Fine Art and Textiles training, with membership of Digswell Arts and Mid Herts Craft Guild, with access to a wealth of equipment and partner expertise.
