From Daguerre to Digital: The Art History of Photography

Join us for a whistle-stop tour through the artistic debates that have shaped photography since its invention.
From the earliest photographs that questioned the boundaries between art and documentation to the rise of photojournalism as a tool for truth-telling - and later, manipulation - this talk will explore how photography has continuously challenged artistic traditions.
Along the way we will take a closer look at examples from the North Herts collection, using the photos to illustrate the evolving role of photography, whether seen as a mechanical process, a creative medium or a tool for mass communication.
Tuesday 10 June, 12pm
£7 per person
Don’t forget, you can present your ticket or receipt at our café on the day of the talk to receive 10% off your order.
