Saturday 9 April 2022
7.30pm Huddersfield Town Hall
Conductor Benjamin Ellin
Violin David Greed
Holst Egdon Heath
Shostakovich Violin Concerto No 1
John Adams Harmonielehre
Originally planned for April 2020, this programme showcases one of the seminal works from a current living composer, John Adams' Harmonielehre. Adams stated that the piece was inspired by a dream in which he saw an oil tanker on the surface of the water abruptly turn upright and take off like a Saturn V rocket!
The programme also features Holst's mythical Egdon Heath and Shostakovich's thrilling 1st Violin Concerto with local legend David Greed.
The afternoon rehearsal for the Russia and America concert will be held as an Open Rehearsal [1:00pm Saturday 9th April, Huddersfield Town Hall]. Valid evening ticket holders will be able to access the auditorium and listen to our conductor instruct the orchestra and talk about the programme. This initiative is particularly intended for music students but all ticket holders will be able to attend. Please let us know if possible via our website if you intend to take advantage of this scheme.
