A hand-crafted Christmas at the Devon Guild
17 November – 31 December at Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Riverside Mill,
Bovey Tracey, Devon, TQ13 9AF
While hand-made gifts are growing in popularity but hard to come by on the high street, the Devon Guild’s Christmas exhibition MAKE offers the discerning buyer something both uniquely designed - and affordable, this festive season.
The exhibition features specially selected items sourced from around 50 studios and independent artists in the UK. These include WestCountry furniture-maker Peter Lanyon and local Guild Member Katie Lake whose decorative metalwork is
always a big seller. Caroline Parrot shows jewellery and automata, hand-printed with vintage Victorian and insect motifs. Tone Von Krog’s Scandinavian inspired pots, bowls and vases feature amongst a huge variety of ceramics. What is common to all is quality. The home accessories, art prints, stylish bags, purses, tableware, carved wood and sculptural glass – are all beautifully and individually crafted from natural
materials.
This Christmas, MAKE should inspire many to buy - and give, a key piece of contemporary design. For the discerning buyer it promises realistic prices – starting from under £20 and for everyone – a guaranteed overview of design trends current in the UK. (Late opening til 8pm, Friday 7 December)
