Welwyn Garden City MVC Singing locally for nearly 80 years
WGC Male Voice Choir was founded in 1935 by miners from South Wales who came to Welwyn Garden for work, and the tradition is maintained to this day through a number of Welsh hymns and songs in the choir’s repertoire, most of which are sung in Welsh. However the majority of the repertoire comprises a broad range of music - sung in English!
Nearly all of the choir’s engagements support charitable fundraising, with venues ranging from village halls to churches, day-care centres to theatres and rugby clubs to cathedrals. The choir welcomes requests from charitable and non-profit making bodies to sing at fundraising events.
The Choir is always looking to recruit new members and would be delighted to welcome anyone who relishes the idea of having some fun, enjoying the fellowship and camaraderie and singing a range of different types of choral music. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 7.30 at the Methodist Church in Ludwick Way, Welwyn Garden City AL7 3PN. You will be made most welcome.
You do not need to be able to read music nor to have the confidence to sing solo.
