Drypoint and Multi-Plate Printing: CREATE! Workshop
Day workshop
Saturday 22nd April 2017
11 – 3
£40.00
Tutor: Michelle Keegan
Take a line for a walk exploring multi-plate drypoint printmaking! Experiment with using traditional scrapers and drypoint needles, along with sanding and more innovative mark making approaches, to build up surfaces without the need for etching chemicals. You will have a number of plates to print in register on top of one another to create multi-plate prints.
The plates will be inked exploring ‘a la poupee’ inking and multi-plate, multi-colour inking techniques. You can experiment with the arrangement of the plates to create different compositions .You will also explore transparent inks to achieve layering of colour and images.
Michelle Keegan studied Fine Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, graduating with first class honours. She specialised in printmaking immediately, having been intrigued by the possibilities of process, and exploring unknown ways of making marks. Michelle continued her post graduate education at the Slade School of Fine Art, under the guidance of Stanley Jones. She has made prints and exhibited widely for the past 20 years, and also runs a small print workshop and lectures in Nottingham.
