Learn to print letterpress! This course will show you all the basics of setting and printing wood and lead type, to create posters, books and stationery.
Nick Loaring is from The Print Project, a letterpress printing collective based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, keeping the skills and art of letterpress alive! He is committed to producing work which is incredible to read, feel and touch and to working on projects which are inspiring, responsible and thought provoking.
During the course you will have the option to work with a selection of wood and lead type in a range of typefaces and sizes. We have an 8 x 5” Adana press for printing small work, and a large Imperial platen press for printing larger wood type.
*Please note that if you wish to use the workshop for making your own work after the course, you can use WYPW’s selection of lead type, up to 30pt size. Nick brings in his own wood type for use during the course, which is not available to use after the workshop. We are always looking to add to our collection of type, and build on our letterpress facilities, but do not as yet have any larger wood type available for members to use.
